Supporting Your Student in Fraternity & Sorority Life

Sending a student to college is a big transition—for them and for you. At UCF, Greek life offers a way to build friendships, leadership skills, and a sense of belonging. Many students find that joining a fraternity or sorority helps them navigate college life, stay on track academically, and connect with mentors.

Why Greek Life?

Fraternities and sororities provide:
A strong support system – Lifelong friendships and a home-away-from-home.
Leadership & service opportunities – Build skills, give back, and grow.
Academic & career connections – Mentorship, networking, and alumni support.

Your Role as a Family Member

Your support matters! Here’s how you can help:

  • Encourage an open mind. Every organization is different—help your student find the right fit.
  • Talk about finances. Discuss costs and expectations before they join.
  • Let them lead. Greek life is their journey. Support, but let them make the decision.
  • Stay engaged. Attend events and learn more about the experience.
